Food Waste Press

The average dry solids (DS) content of the shredded and collected waste is around 5-7%. Before it is suitable for disposal at the incinerator, it must reach a final DS of about 20%.  To achieve this condition, the food waste (FW) is fed into a screw type dewatering unit, which squeezes the liquid out of the FW to separate the excess water from the food waste.

The FW is collected in the silo and the juices are drained from the press to the FW reject water tank.  These juices are called the food waste reject (FWR) water.  The press is controlled by the PLC and operates automatically, guaranteeing a minimum of 20% DS at the outlet.

The FW press capacity is normally about 1000 kg/hr, depending on the application.  The unit is made entirely of acid proof stainless steel.
